Happy Feature Friday, where every Friday the Chamber team will highlight one of our fantastic members by repping them for the day and telling the community more about them. This week’s Feature Friday is: Ohio Institute of Osteopathic Medicine!
Join us in showing the world that you are #DOProud by helping to spotlight the osteopathic profession during National Osteopathic Medicine Week, taking place THIS WEEK! National Osteopathic Medicine (NOM) Week is a national observance dedicated to spotlighting the osteopathic medical profession and raising awareness about the distinctiveness of osteopathic medicine. The event brings together nearly 148,000 osteopathic physicians and over 38,000 osteopathic medical students from across the country with a common goal: celebrating and sharing the unique body, mind, spirit approach DOs bring to health care.
Ohio Institute of Osteopathic Medicine is home to Dr. Zachary West, who offers Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Osteopathic Cranial Manipulative Medicine, Direct Primary Care, Regenerative Medicine, and Aesthetic Medicine. Osteopathic physicians understand that every individual expresses health and disease differently. The absence of disease does not imply the presence of health. Osteopathic physicians are trained to recognize changes in body structure that alters function and contributes to disease. Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is the application of osteopathic philosophy, structural diagnosis, and use of osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) in the diagnosis and management of an individual patient. OMT is the therapeutic application of manually guided forces by an osteopathic physician to improve physiological function.
Dr. Zachary West was born and raised north of Tiffin. He is a third generation resident of Seneca County and a graduate of Old Fort Local High School. Dr. West took part in the Ohio Post-Secondary Enrollment Options program while still in high school and attended Terra State Community College completing an Associate of Science in both pre-allied health and natural & biological sciences. Dr. West continued his studies at Youngstown State University, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science in biology. He next attended the Northwest Ohio Consortium for Public Health and graduated with a Master of Public Health. Dr. West attended medical school at the Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed the clinical portion of his studies at Firelands Regional Medical Center in Sandusky. In medical school, Dr. West was awarded the distinction of Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine Honors Student and graduated with a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (“DO”) and became a licensed physician in the State of Ohio.
Dr. West is board certified in internal medicine through the American Osteopathic Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. West pursued additional specialty training in osteopathic manipulative medicine by completing a fellowship in Osteopathic Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center (Bangor, Maine). He is also board certified in osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine through the American Osteopathic Board of Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine. Dr. West and Ohio Institute of Osteopathic Medicine offers Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine, Osteopathic Cranial Manipulative Medicine, Direct Primary Care, Regenerative Medicine, and Aesthetic Medicine. We are so fortunate to have Dr. West and the whole Ohio Institute of Osteopathic Medicine team including his registered nurse, J. Dian West, in Seneca County and are proud of the work they do for their patients. They happily accept Chamber Cash and are currently accepting new patients. Stop into their office at 93 North Washington Street in Tiffin, where you will be greeted by Ella the dog and a friendly staff. Thanks for being a part of the Chamber and our community!
